Barberini® Sun Solution combines decades of optical innovation with an ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability, reflected in facilities fully powered by renewable electricity.
Part of our factories' energy needs is covered by onsite renewable production, with photovoltaic systems in Città Sant’Angelo (IT), Lauriano (IT), and Tristar (CN) generating solar energy for self-consumption.
Barberini® is also exploring advanced solutions such as energy storage systems to ensure more continuous and balanced energy use.
Through initiatives focused on resource reduction and operational efficiency, Barberini®’s Città Sant’Angelo facility has earned LEED certification, the international standard for high-performance and energy-efficient building design.
Oasi Barberini
Following EssilorLuxottica’s sustainability vision, a new initiative has been launched through the recovery of industrial land around the Barberini® plant. Over 40 hectares now host the Group’s first large-scale ground-mounted photovoltaic system and generating over 30,000 MWh of clean energy per year and dedicated agricultural areas, where nature, innovation, and well-being come together.
Oasi Barberini is a new organic product line inspired by this project, in Città Sant’Angelo, Abruzzo. In partnership with Tenuta Fragassi, olives, tomatoes, and honey plants are cultivated to produce oil, passata, and honey.
The line is based on a short, controlled supply chain and supports EssilorLuxottica’s “Eyes on Food” program, promoting responsible choices.
